Stevenage is one of the ‘New Towns’, designed and built near London after World War II. It’s just 32 miles north of central London and located in the county of Hertfordshire. There are a few hotels in Stevenage, including the Novotel Stevenage, our recently refurbished 102-room hotel in the grounds of the lush Knebworth Country Park. Guests are invited to use the complimentary on-site parking and Wi-Fi, as well as the six large events and corporate spaces. Have a bite to eat in the international restaurant or a drink in the lively hotel bar. From the hotel, it’s just five minutes to Stevenage city centre and station, where you can take a short train trip to London Kings Cross. However, if you want to learn more about the history of the town, you can visit the Stevenage Museum, St Nicholas Church or Knebworth House, a gothic country house and concert venue built in 1490. It’s also worth visiting some of the Stevenage surrounds such as Church Farm Ardeley, a working ecological farm where you can feed animals and stock up on local produce, the Fairlands Valley Park where you can try kayaking, windsurfing or angling, and the gorgeous Hitchin Lavender Fields, 25 miles of lavender rows where you can pick your own wild flowers from May to September. One of the best ways to explore Stevenage and Hertfordshire is by foot, with many walking trails available both in town and further field.
