Luxembourg is a true wonderland. Heaps of fun for both you and the kids! Wondering where to start? We listed 4 to do's in a nutshell. Something that can be enjoyed by each member of the family!
1. Fairy tale castles in Luxembourg
Luxembourg has an abundance of fairy tale castles, amounting to no fewer than 50! Popular landmarks include the castle of Vianden, the beautiful Esch-sur-Sûre with amazing views over the valley and the historic castle ruins of Bourscheid. You can even embark on a 7-castle tour through Luxembourg! This expedition-by-foot through the Valley of the Seven Castles stretches over an impressive 37-kilometre distance. Follow the route and take your children through Luxembourg's remarkable history with an adventurous twist!
2. Monkeying around
Numerous playgrounds can be found in Luxembourg where kids can let loose and expel some energy right in the middle of nature. Adventure Park Heiderscheid for example is fully equipped with ropes, iron cables and many different obstacles. Other options include Adventure Park Tree Climber in the Bildchensbesch forest or the Pirate Ship Playground in the Parc Municipal in Luxembourg City.
3. Bock Casemates
Luxembourg City’s centre is filled with historic buildings, beautiful scenery and multicultural diversity. But beneath all this lies an exciting underground world waiting to be discovered! 27 kilometres of tunnels, also called casemates, are found just below the surface. These were once used as a defence system, munitions storage and even a barracks for soldiers. Take your kids and head underground in search of cannons and ammo for an educational and thrilling discovery!
4. Child-friendly museums
Plenty of museums are also found in Luxembourg but not all are equally engaging for children. Especially the ones that display modern and experimental art. The MUDAM and Natural History Museum are however perfectly equipped for kids. MUDAM is an art museum that incorporates a playful element with its selection. Special tours are available for kids of different age groups and workshops allow them to create their own masterpieces! The Natural History Museum also has a special program for younger audiences. Here kids are able to play with fossils and rocks by means of an interactive tour while learning a great deal along the way.
