Mississauga, a paradise for those who love culture

Canada's sixth biggest city offers an impressive array of artistic and cultural activities to enjoy. Follow our guide!

Mississauga: where art and culture meet
Nestled in the suburbs of Toronto, the town of Mississauga is a renowned artistic and cultural hub. Proud of its heritage, historic districts and outdoor spaces, Mississauga will delight fans of both culture and art. The town has made it a priority to support creativity, and has thus invested huge amounts in its cultural clubs and associations. A brief stroll around Mississauga is all it takes to appreciate the wonderful creative life force that flows through its streets.
Art and history at the Art Gallery of Mississauga
Kick off your cultural voyage of discovery at the Art Gallery of Mississauga (AGM). Located in the Mississauga Civic Centre, the AGM is the perfect (free!) introduction to Canada's main artistic movements and periods. The gallery holds exhibitions throughout the year on a unique series of themes. This is a fantastic opportunity to see work by contemporary artists and explore the little quirks that characterise the local culture.
An exceptional night out at the Living Arts Centre
The Living Arts Centre (LAC) is a must for an unforgettable cultural evening. From dance and comedy to opera, jazz and blues, there's something for everyone in the rich and varied line-up of this iconic arts venue. Located in the heart of the town, the centre is also home to the LIVE restaurant and to a great boutique that sells both traditionally crafted and highly modern objects.
Musical ingenuity at the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra
The Mississauga Symphony Orchestra (MSO), based in the LAC, is another unmissable highlight. Founded in 1972 and home to both casual and professional musicians, the MSO is renowned for forming Canada's top hybrid orchestra. Expertly oscillating between classical symphonies and pop music, you are sure to enjoy some sensational concerts here.
Contemporary art at the Harbour Gallery
Among the many fascinating art centres that we could list here – such as the Visual Arts Mississauga (VAM) at Riverwood, the Mississauga Arts Council (MAC) and the many festivals and public works of art scattered around the town – the Harbour Gallery is our final cultural pick. Originally located in the spectacular Port Credit district, the gallery is now contained within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and represents some of Canada's most prestigious contemporary artists.
